The Night Tree: First Grade Rotations
On Friday morning all of the first graders rotated from classroom to classroom and participated in a Columbus Academy Tradition called The Night Tree. Each classroom read the story Night Tree by Eve Bunting and learned about a boy and his family and their yearly tradition of making food ornaments for the animals and then decorating a tree in the forest. In the pictures below, you will see a few of the different activities in each classroom. The children made popcorn chains, bread cut-outs, and dipped pretzels in honey and then rolled them in birdseed. They also covered a pinecone in apple butter and then rolled it in birdseed. We had a lot of fun!
