We have been learning about measurement in first grade. We have been using many different tools such a ruler, a tape measurer and even our own body parts to find the length and width of different items in our classroom.
Today we got together with our third grade buddies to also do some measuring, but this time we were able to use materials like mini marshmallows, jelly beans, cinnamon red hots and raisins to find the area and perimeter of a gingerbread boy.
Take a look at the work we did! And no, we weren't allowed to eat any of the materials while working!
(Fortunately, when we were done our teachers did give us a small cup of marshmallows and jelly beans!)
